At Iceland Cars, we want to ensure you get the perfect car for your needs. Since we tend to see high demands during certain seasons, vehicle make and model availability may be limited. Please book in advance.

In order to guarantee you'll have the right car for your next trip we'll ask for a partial payment deposit of the total rental costs. That way our staff can reserve the vehicle with all the wonderful added extras you requested just in time for your arrival. Once you reach Reykjavik, the remaining balance can be taken care of in person, and you’ll be asked to leave a security deposit (unless you purchase our Platinum Insurance Package) that will be returned at the end of the rental period.

For your convenience we have associated ourselves with the top credit card service providers such as Visa, JCB, Mastercard, Diners Club, CUP and American Express.

All driver's licenses held for a minimum of 12 months and issued from the U.S.A, Canada and the European Economic Area (EEA) are valid in Iceland. A driver's license from anywhere else will be valid if it has:

  • The license holder's photograph
  • A valid date
  • Been printed in Latin characters

Yes, there is. The minimum rental period for any vehicle is 24 hours.

Our booking process is super easy! We will require a partial payment of the total rental costs at the time of booking, and upon picking up your vehicle, you’ll be asked to leave a security deposit (unless you have purchased the Platinum Insurance Plan) that will be returned to you when you drop off your vehicle. All you need is a valid credit card on file. When you arrive and sign the rental agreement the credit card may be used to purchase additional extras such as supplemental insurance plans, added extras, parking and traffic fines, damages or any other items that you might want to pay for easily and without the hassle of carrying cash throughout your trip.

Yes, it includes our Silver Insurance Plan. It includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), a basic third-party liability insurance with a total deductible (self-risk) of 450,000 ISK.

Our guarantee is solid. Whatever car category you choose shall be available to you the day of pick-up. However, we cannot guarantee the exact brand and/or model. If you choose a specific class of vehicle we promise to deliver that class or a vehicle of a higher class at no additional cost to you.

Unfortunately, due to local and state laws and regulations a valid driver's license is mandatory upon picking up the vehicle. We recommend you double check that you have your passport, driver's license and valid credit card in hand before arriving to Iceland for rental car pick up.

If you cancel your rental agreement more than 2 days before its start date, you will receive a complete refund. If you cancel less than 2 days from the start date, you won’t be eligible for a refund. The same applies if you do not collect your vehicle (No Show).
